Lviv, Ukraine
Born under the sunlight of Lviv, into a household where two languages and two cultures met at the breakfast table. My father spoke English; my mother, Russian. Between them, I learned that identity is never singular.
Vienna
My parents met at a small charity art exhibition in Vienna — my father drawn to a painting of the Ukrainian steppe, my mother explaining its story. Their conversation moved from art to homelands, and from Europe to California.
A Lesson
I was eight years old, sitting in the corner of a conference room in Los Angeles. After the meeting, my father bent down and said: "This is no longer about oil. It's about responsibility." I didn't understand then. I gradually did.
Four Generations
The Getty story began with J. Paul Getty. Mark Getty co-founded Getty Images. Gordon Getty pursued music and philanthropy. My branch chose finance, education, and the belief that capital's meaning can be redefined.
A Bridge
I neither hide the name nor flaunt it. I see it as a bridge — between old industries and new ideas, between history and the future. That is how the Getty story continues through me.
